It is growing on me now as well. The last track is particularly good.

I've been listening to Dead Leaves extensively over the past few days and I like it a lot. It's a nice combination of analogue noise and laptop loops, especially the first track, which is my favourite on this album. I think there are some similarities between this one and Dolphin Sonar minus the rhythmic elements of the latter. However, I guess I'd actually rate Dead Leaves a little higher than Dolphin Sonar (though I also liked this one).
On a related note, that handmade wooden box looks beautiful.

I very often find that an album that takes a bit of getting into generally proves to be the better listen in the long run and generally remains a favorite. Dead Leaves is possibly gonna be one of those.

Thrench I totally agree, but on first listen with albums like that, I usually have an inkling that it will grow on me in time, and that I will get into it more. I didn't get that with Dead Leaves... Judging by the comments here since that first listen, it maybe did just slip the net. Will hopefully get chance to listen to it again this week...

Scratch that last post, am listening now. Yes, there are alot more things to hear in the second listen. First listen was on headphones, this time I am playing through speakers.
The point you made Halcyon, about the analogue / laptop mix is very apparent. In Part 1 at least.
I should learn my lesson not to post after only listening once! I should listen to Tombo again also....

^Same here. At least I found the time to listen to Tombo. I have to say I really like the sound of all these records he created at the beginning of 2008 (Dead Leaves, Dolphin, Tombo). It's quite a varied fun ride and the album never gets stale. And is it just me or did Akita use a Theremin on Tombo (2)? Anyway, the album was well worth its money.
Any opinions on Protean World yet? Is it very similar to Arijigoku?

Hopefully find a torrent for it soon though...

I've had quite a Merz session at work today, listened to Rainbow Electronics (still can't really get into it), Rattus Rattus (gets better and better with every listen) and Tentacle (wasn't too sure on this one when I first got it, however, it has improved with age, almost on a par with the Rat now).

Does anyone else think that Merzbow prices on Ebay seem to be going up and up?
Thrench out

Does anyone else think that Merzbow prices on Ebay seem to be going up and up? Indeed. I just recently saw Great American Nude going for something like 15€...
