OK,
Thanks for having a listen to AMR 3. Sounds like it's just a problem with my mine disc if neither of you are having problems. I'll get a replacement.
Cheers

Sorry, but I just realised I was wrong. I just compared the AMR3 disc with the Shora split and I think now I know what you meant. You were talking about those really short glitches during the tracks, right?
Those are on my disc, too. Initially, I thought they were actually part of the music, but they are not on the Switching Retorics version.

That's the ones, Once you know they are there they become very noticable. I'm in the middle of replacing my copy but I guess that's not going to help matters. I have contacted Dirter Promotions and they are looking into the problem.

Checked out Graft today. Brilliant.
The 7" is particularly great.

Holy shit, Ouroboros is amazing! There's so much going on, the pace is constantly changing and even Akitas free-style drumming (which only appear after 35+ min.) perfectly fits into the context of this one. Contrary to some of the Japanese Birds releases, the drums feel more like a part of a bigger whole than a seperate entitiy, plus they never completely take over the proceedings.
The album is similar to Japanese Birds Vol.13 (which was recorded around the same time) in terms of scope and harshness, but Ouroboros offers a bit more variation and is more dynamic imo.
Seriously, I'm in love with this one. 2010 seems to be a great year for Merzbow so far.

I listened to Ouroboros again today too. Certainly an enjoyable trip! I have always been a fan of his long pieces. I listened to Mangod from Psychorazer the other day - always KILLER. I agree, it is already a great year, and with Marmo due soon, it looks like it will continue. Favourites so far for me are Graft ( especially the 7" ) and Another Merzbow Records.

Yeah, AMR and Graft are both great. Graft sounds to me as if Akita wanted to go back to the collage sounds of his 80's records and combine it with his recent techniques. Which is definitely a great thing in my book.
Did you order Marmo? I'm really tempted to get it simply based on those sound samples from the OEC website, even though I really should save some money right now...

I did go to order it, but then held back as Cold Spring are getting it in over here, so will be easier for me to order from them than OEC who are based in Italy.

Nice. I guess I'll order from Cold spring as well then, as I prefer their automated paypal system. Plus their prices are always fair, even for non-Uk residents like me.

Hello, anyone out there.
I've been listening to 24 hours today in work. I even managed to get someone to listen for almost 2 minutes before giving up.

I never liked the 13 Japanese Birds series but I will check out this Ourobourus album as I have heard good things about it.
Today I listened to some of 24 Hours.... and Collapse 12 Floors.
Houjoue is another that I haven't listened to in a while - need to get stuck back into that one.
