It is also available on D.A.'s Our Last Day cd, which features some of their rare stuff, as well as various D.A.coverversions by other bands, Merzbow and Melt Banana included.

Today I have listened to the whole of the Pornoise cassette box. I haven't done that for so long. I'd forgotten how good it really is.

Currently I'm listening a lot to "13 Japanese Birds 13: Chabo", which is pretty much my favourite part of the whole series (next to pt. 2 and 7). Highly recommended, even if you're not keen on Akitas free-style drumming stuff. Actually, I don't think there's any drumming in there at all. Instead, the music focuses on loads of harsh noise blasts, interwoven with short, quiet moments and some thick Synthi A action.
Don't get me wrong, I like some of Akitas free drumming stuff, but after 15+ drum releases with not so many different ideads, I definitely grew a bit tired of it.

Shirasagi is the newest one for me, which I did enjoy. Part 12 is on its way, and will order Chabo after that. 2 and 7 your favourite volumes,eh? I would have to go for 4 and possibly 3, off the top of my head. I need to re-listen to them all though, and, like you, I am pretty tired of the drum releases! I believe we have discussed this before!

By the way, you got your bamboo box yet, Hal?

Yeah, Vol. 3 was pretty cool as well, especially the last two tracks. I'll need to revisit Vol.4 one day. I believe I only listened to it once or twice, so I never really gave it a proper chance...
I think the worst ones for me were Kamo and Niwatori. They just sounded so dull and bland to me - especially Kamo, which had absolutely nothing new to offer IMO (it also has my least favourite album cover from the whole series).
The bamboo box and the cute painting arrived already. I'll post pics either tomorrow or on friday.

Listening to disc one now, absolutely glorious. Dirter hit the mark again, another great release from them, it seems.

Yea, I've listened to disc one yesterday, gonna move onto disc two this evening. I was slightly thrown by the track listing on the back of the main CD cover, because the running order is incorrect. Other than that it's a very fine release....so far!

Has anyone listened to disc 3 of Another Merzbow Records? Is it just my copy or are the tracks from Switching Rethorics breaking up like a damage CD? I've got the original so I've got something to compare them against and no way is the quality as poor as on AMR. Also the other two tracks on disc 3 seem ok.

A bit late, but here are the promised pictures from the bird box. tinypic.com/r/11ugfbl/5tinypic.com/r/205p3i9/5As for Another Merzbow Records... I thinks it's a strong release so far (I've only listened to the first two discs). Really goes to show how many differences there were even in Akitas 90's output. Yahowa Stackridge and Phillo-Jazz Electronica are absolute killer tracks - I can't get enough of those two.

No - I've been considering it, but I just can't justify spending 80$ on music I already own for the most part. Besides, Important Records will send mp3s of the new bonus material to everyone who had a bird subscription. What about you?

No, I am happy enough with owning each of the 13 discs. I actually think that the 13 JB series is one of the weakest things he has done as a whole. Some of the volumes are great, but I would have rather had a kick ass four cd set of ALL good material, than 13 patchy albums.
I don't blame you for not picking up the bag, the box is way cooler.

There was some exciting material on those albums, but also too many fillers. For me, Kamo was the point where things started to become patchy and too samey. Kujakubato, on the other hand, remains my favourite and I still enjoy listening to it. I wish some of the other volumes had that much variety. Btw, I just listened to AMR CD3, and the Switching Rethorics tracks seem to be fine for me as well.
