Live at Radio 100 is a little (and unusual) gem. I like it a lot although I don't really see it as a Merzbow release, aurally anyway.
On another note have you seen that Blossoming noise are re-releasing a Lowest Music and Arts cassette..I've pasted in the website blurb on it below...................
Recorded in September of 1981. Ethnical Study was first released on cassette through the Lowest Music and Arts imprint. This cassette reissue was remastered from the original recordings in September of 2009. Edition of 100 copies. High quality chrome C-42 cassette with vinyl sticker & 1" button. E-Study will also be available as a download later this month.
Got mine on order, should be here any day soon

I like it, but it certainly isn't typical of him. I posted about E-Study and Microkosmos in another thread - both sound great, and have ordered both too. Just as well really, as E-Study has already sold out!

still waiting for mine, did you order through blossoming noise for e-study? Yes. It took two and a half weeks to arrive, so I wouldn't fret mate. In the past I have ordered from them and they have taken AGES. That said, they also hold the record of my fastest post! Ordered Thursday morning, arrived Monday! From the US that is pretty fucked up.

Yea just received my E-Study, fuck that's a hard listen, very interesting though as well. Good to hear some very early stuff other than what's on the Merzbox.

I think E-Study is my favourite Merz release this year. ( along with Karasu and Camouflage )
I really enjoy it, great to hear an old cassette re-issued, something he should do more! ( listening to Paradoxa Paradoxa now too - I am on an 80's Merzbow tip at the moment! )

Sometimes it takes someone else to open your ears to something. I've been having more of a listen to E-study, and it is really growing on me. I've transfered it to CD and have been listening a lot to it. Specially side two.
Thanks

I've been on a bit of a Merzbow hiatus lately. However, E-Study looks interesting to me and Blossoming Noise are now offering Flac Download for 5,99£. Would you guys say it's worth the price? Is it comparable to any of the Merzbox releases?
Also, what's up with Microkosmos? Is it similar to the current sound on the Japanese Bird releases?

My favourite Merzbow release of last year, if it counts as an actual 09 release that is. Comparable to maybe the Collection Era discs, certainly a classic example of his earlier work. Get it, Hal! I got Microkosmos at the same time of E-Study, but am yet to hear it, due to not having a record player here at the moment!

Keio Line...wow I love that CD, totally different and really nice to chill to (sounds wrong to be saying that about a Merzbow release).

Reminded me of, if anything, Fripp And Eno's stuff, for obvious reasons. Nice to hear MA on a relaxed tip. Hope to listen to disc two later. Fuck knows why I put off getting this for so long, definitely one of the better collabs!
