Invitation To A Suicide (DVD) Cool. Id really like to see all the films Zorn scored, but in a way it could ruin the magic of the music, if you get my meaning? Especially really dense pieces, like A Lot Of Fun For The Evil One, it almost doesnt need pictures to accompany it yknow? Let us know how that is anyway, out of all his scores Invitation looks like quite a good movie....( I cant see myself enjoying Latin Boys Go To Hell too much, but thats just personal preference... )

My last two Zorn/Tzadik purchases....
Jamie Saft Trio - Astaroth Cracow Klezmer Band - Remembrance
I like, but don't love, Astaroth... I really liked them when I saw them live, but as a studio recording I find it a little less interesting than a lot of the other Book of Angels CDs.
Remembrance is an excellent album all around... I love Cracow Klezmer Band and especially the stuff they've done with Zorn - Balan being my favorite.

I like Astaroth too, great album. But, gotta be honest, of every one of the Book Of Angels releases I have so far, ( Masada String Trio, Ribot, Koby Isaraelite and Saft ), none have blown me totally out the water. Of them all, I think Koby Israelite, Vol. 4 is my favourite, and of course the MST disc, which Im still getting into, having only played twice....
....I plan to get the Cracow Klezmer volume on my next order.....

The Cracow Klezmer Band (Balan) and the Feldman/Courvoisier (Malphas) are my two favorite Book of Angels albums, maybe you are unknowingly saving the best for last.
I think the upcoming Vol. 9 with the Secret Chiefs 3 is sure to be a winner as well. I saw them perform the material at the Stone before they recorded the CD, it was fabulous.

Maybe so, I definitely plan to get all the volumes at some point. The Uri Caine looks good too ( but, dont thay all?! ).....The SC3 one also looks great. Ive never heard SC3, but they / Spruance have been recommended to me on multiple occasions. The only contact Ive had with Trey Spruance so far is Bungle / FNM and Zorns Elegy

The Uri Caine album is about like the Saft one for me - I like it but I don't love it. The only one I don't have yet is Koby Israelite which I'm sure I will get at some point for completeness' sake. I'm more of a Masada freak than an overall Zorn freak at this point so I have almost all the Masada releases and very little else he's done...
Of the limited SC3 music I've heard, some of it's good, some I don't like at all - but the Masada tunes they did were just excellent across the board.
Just realized I forgot my really latest Zorn purchase, which is "Arcana"... haven't read too much of it yet though. I'm bogged down in one of the first essays which is long and dense.

My latest purchases have been Music For Children and Filmworks VI. Music For Children is fascinating... and such a varied album too... from really quite accessible and melodic pieces (Fils des etoiles, Sooki's Lullaby) to challenging chamber music (title track), the Naked City tracks, even the wind machine piece is wonderful. Dreamer of Dreams is my favourite aspect of the album though. Perfectly positioned within the albums structure too... Filmworks VI is ok. Far from being my favourite Zorn album, it has some great bits of music, but overall it lacks the feeling of having experienced something when listened to as an album. Having said that, I've not listened to it much so far...

Im still not totally sold on closing soundtracks ( is it "The Black Glove"? ), I really do have to be in the mood to listen to them. Music For Children is probably my least favourite of the Music Romance series, but it is still a great album. Nice and varied, as you said.....

"The Black Glove" soundtracks really are a sort of one time only experience. I've listened to them through once, just before I went to sleep a few weeks ago through headphones. It was a highly stimulating experience, but its not the kind of thing you can listen to more casually. You've really got to tune in to that kind of stuff.
The music for romance series consists of only 4 albums right? (Music for Children, Taboo and Exile... ur... IAO and... oh ,the Gift?)

IAO and... oh ,the Gift?) 3 albums officially, although according to this guy - www.omnology.com/zorn01.html, he seems to think IAO is part of the Music Romance series, but from what I can gather this is based on packaging alone? It basically comes in a slipcase ala the other volumes of the MR series, but this is the only similarity IMO. He does also mention something relating to the similarities in music styles that are apparent in IAO and all the MR series, but I dont buy it totally personally. Nothing relating to this theory anywhere else, Tzadik included, so.....
