Once Greg Cohen used to be the man for all bands; today such a role is played by Shanir Blumenkranz. There's a few other people missing that you might have expected to see - in fact not a single member of the original Masada Quartet is appearing aside from JZ. I think it's great that he's giving new musicians and different ensembles a chance, personally... I'm a lot more excited for the show after seeing the full lineup. P.S. Holger - I PMed you here and on Youtube, but not sure you got my message?

Yeah, when I saw that (and remembered some of your postings on the Merzboard) I thought to myself how expensive it must be to be a fan of his...

Oh, that's a shame. Looks like Laurie Anderson canceled (or rescheduled maybe?) her residency that week. I guess if you really wanted to go there you could volunteer to repaint the walls or something while it's closed for repair

I think Laurie Anderson is at the Stone that week, including the 18th. I'll try to keep an eye out for anything that night, I'm on a million mailing lists for NYC venues...

I've never been - not really that much into festivals, usually. The Newport Jazz and Folk festivals are both very well-known and well-respected in these parts, though. If you like outdoor festivals I don't think you could go too far wrong.

Newport is going to be a Masada Marathon, according to various other sources.

The fact that there are sooo many aisle seats gone makes me wonder if they are for the musicians. If you are only playing for 10 minutes in a 5 hour show (who knows how long it will be and how it will work, but just as a guesstimate...) it might be nice to watch the rest of it from a seat with your +1.

Got my ticket too. I was taken aback to see all those hundreds of seats pre-allocated before they even went on sale Front rows of the orchestra and balcony and lots of the good center aisle seats were all gone.
