Stumbled across some exciting stuff today... Cyro Baptista has a Zorn@60 event listed on July 12 2013 at the Barbican in London! Presumably this would be similar to the Rotterdam/Gent/Warsaw festival appearances that same week. And in 2014 he has a Zorn show listed in Australia... There also appear to be some new NYC shows at Lincoln center July 18-20. The Holy Visions and the Complete String Quartets. I am off to investigate further now. Fantastic news! Thanks Sarah!

There it is, now it's official: Pat Metheny: Tap: The Book of Angels vol. 20 [#8307] Ever curious, courageous and endlessly creative, virtuoso guitarist and musical mastermind Pat Metheny takes on John Zorn’s Masada songbook to create some of the most soulful and adventurous sounds yet heard in the Book of Angels series. Turn up the volume and revel in the breadth of imagination in these remarkable arrangements featuring Pat on a huge arsenal of instruments, and the powerful Antonio Sanchez on drums. Pat Metheny continues to surprise and experiment with new musical frontiers well into the 21st century. Co-produced with Nonesuch Records, this is a match made in Heaven—essential! Definitely looking forward to this one. Antonio Sanchez is just ridiculous! This will be a good volume...

True. No excuses for my glaring errors though.

I thought Ceremonial magic was on Music and its double. Right, and it's a violin/drums duo. Sorry. I stand corrected. Nerds!

Has anyone heard Lemma (besides the samples)? Haven't picked that up yet either. I googled to see if there was a review or something, and found this instead: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zorn%27s_lemma I guess that must have been on purpose... Lemma is great. As it's all solo violin, it's very all emcompassing and focused. I really got caught up in my first two listens. The version of Ceremonial Magic is interesting, obviously being familiar with the piano / bass / drums version of it on Rimbaud - I want to hear both versions simultaneosly now! Well worth picking up.

I recently picked up the new Bill Frisell album "Silent Comedy", which is awesome. It's the typical Frisell tone and style, but here he seems totally free - a very improvisational feel to it all. Not sure if that is the whole point of the record, but it's a new thing to hear BF in that environment, and his playing is still as excellent and as beautiful as ever. Recommended!
Next for me is going to be Lemma. The samples sound great.
Oh, and whilst I've not been too excited for more BOA, the upcoming Metheny volume sounds like it'll be worth hearing... Also, I'm not overly keen on hearing more from The Gnostic Preludes trio / camp. Yes, TGP is a great album and the trio sound brilliant together, but I hope Zorn doesn't oversaturate things with release upon release ( as he seemed to with many of his recent "nicer" albums ) - sometimes albums blossom more when they are one-offs.
But hey, what do I know? I'll check out most things the label puts out...

Yeah, saw that on the Oto website. I am unable to attend unfortunately due to work. I also have a couple of other shows in March already ( The Magic Band and Living Colour ) so another one on top would stretch things a little too much. Of course I'd justify it if it wasn't for work!
Cafe Oto is a great place to see music too, it really is. It'll sell out for sure.

The Pallbearer album is good! Mellow yet heavy, doesn't seem to outstay its welcome either, like a lot of modern "doom". This record is a nice extension on the type of stuff I was into back around 88 - 93 ( Cathedral, early Anathema, early MDB etc. )
Let us know your thoughts!

Yes. Good until the 8 minute mark when the "rapper" came in, anyway.
God, who's idea was that? Ruined it!

I listened to this braodcast last night. Really good. Great rendition of La Machine de l'Etre. Allison Bell ( soprano ) nailed it!
