I'm really bad at these because I can never remember when albums came out... but I'll give it a shot. I didn't find 2012 to be a great year for studio releases, though... a lot of not-so-great albums by people I really like. These were at the top of my list, and I'm probably forgetting some:
Jeremiah Cymerman - Purification/Dissolution John Zorn - The Concealed Dead Combo - Lisboa Mulata Jan Bell - Dream of the Miner's Child Sean Rowe - The Salesman and the Shark Erik Friedlander - American Power
A lot of my most listened to "albums" were actually live recordings, though. Among those, Ceramic Dog, Zion80, Cubanos Postizos, Joe Henry, and Brian Carpenter got a lot of ear time... and although I probably only listened to the Animal Hospital recording I made a couple of times, I really loved that one.

A list! A list! I'm still not ready with "list"ening ... but I'd like to contribute within the next week(s). I can already say that exactly 2 albums of Offering's will be in my top twenty ... Perhaps three - I haven't listened yet to Pallbearer (just got it today).

I loved Tethered Moon some ten years ago ... big fan of especially Gary Peacock.

The Pallbearer album is good! Mellow yet heavy, doesn't seem to outstay its welcome either, like a lot of modern "doom". This record is a nice extension on the type of stuff I was into back around 88 - 93 ( Cathedral, early Anathema, early MDB etc. )
Let us know your thoughts!

I love early Anathema, the "Eternity" stuff especially; but according to doom, I prefer duneral doom ... I will listen to it at the weekend, no time now. I'm ... can I say "expextant"? (I'm not used to talk or write in English, so my posts may be somehow odd ... I'd like you to tell me my mistakes!)
