Not sure about iTunes specifically, but it often takes a while for his releases to appear on Amazon mp3 - and not just the actual mp3s for sale, but also the 30-second samples on the page where they're selling the CD don't appear right away. Yeah, I noticed Amazon too. Seems silly, if the physical product is available, you should be able to buy it as a download too!

It looks like they've caught up with the Tzadik releases on Amazon mp3, so maybe they have them on iTunes as well.
Although I think there is some confusion with the new Chimeras release since they don't list the CD for that at all on Amazon that I can find.

Listening to Ipos now, enjoying it!

Listening to Ipos now, enjoying it! Well, first listen did go down well. My overall impression though, is that this sounds and feels alot more like a Dreamers record, rather than a Masada record. No real Masada feel or overtones to the music at all, more Dreamers III. Liked it though, and obviously needs more listens.

From the Tzadik website:
John Zorn/Richard Foreman: Astronome: A Night At The Opera [#3010]
Richard Foreman is one of the great geniuses of modern theatre, and his dynamic staging of John Zorn's opera Astronome was one of his greatest works. Premiering in February of 2009 at his Ontological-Hysteric Theatre in the East Village, it continued its sold out run for months. Drawing upon Alchemical and Mystical imagery, the visual world Foreman created was sumptuous, provocative and mysterious. For this DVD, ten performances were captured on film from hundreds of angles and brilliantly edited by filmmaker Henry Hills, a longtime friend of both Zorn and Foreman. You can now experience this once in a lifetime presentation with a whole new intensity. Staged so as to hear the music "better and clearer" than ever, Astronome is a revolution in opera/music-theater.
I don't know exactly how to take this one, not very promising from my point of view... I'll have to see some images or trailer or something before buying it, I suppose.

Having seen that live and up close in person, I can say with some certainty that I will not be buying it... not my cup of tea.
But it's cool for the people who couldn't make it to NYC to see it, I suppose.

I stumbled across this list that I guess is all of Zorn's '10 releases, a few of which I haven't seen mentioned before
mycale chimeras in search of the miraculous last works (duo with fred frith) ipos (the dreamers play masada) baal (ben goldberg plays masada) dictée/liber novus astronome DVD haborym (masada string trio) the goddess crowleyana (classical chamber music) ipsissimus (moonchild) apparitions the satyr’s play filmworks 24—the nobel prizewinner

I see the Frith duo... it's the fourth one.
Interesting looking list. I wonder what the "Haborym" material is from. Volume 1 in the Book of Demons series? ;D
And I wonder which (if any) is the 777 cello trio that Erik Friedlander mentioned recording recently. *Edit: Quick googling would make me think it's the Crowleyana title.

I wonder what the string trio stuff will be, seems odd to have them do another book 2 set.

Haborym is the name of a demon, so - while it would be odd to do a second BOA album, the name seems to indicate just that.
But I would have guessed Banquet of the Spirits would be up next in the BOA series (after Baal) since they were performing material from it in February.

interesting, I wonder if Apparitions is also classical music... He has penty of compositions unreleased to fill t least 3 cds. It would be wonderful if he'd released Shir Ha Shirim.. Any guess about the Satyr? Where did that list come from??

Haborym is an entry in the Dictionnaire

Also, this would not be the first time a release in the Book of Angels gets delayed, for example Mycale played for the first time at The Stone sometime a year or two ago. And Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz, playing with Erik Friedlander, Cyro Baptista and Satoshi Takeishi, played at The Stone in 2006 and we're still waiting for the release... Will Cyro Baptista also get delayed??
