My copy of Buck Jam Tonic arrived. www.silent-watcher.net/billlaswell/discography/babz/buckjamtonic.htmlMuch more 'jazz improv' orientated than Painkiller and I'm really enjoying it. Thanks Holger for the heads up on this Japanese only release. I managed to get a hold of this one through the HMV japan site. DISE (Don't Ignore Spontaneous Enlightenment)

Yeah, I have the first Masada album "Alef" now. Prices in Online-shops for it are 50,-Eur and more. I found it this week in a small shop for 10,-Eur. Also I got Masada live in Sevilla. One of the best Masada releases I think.
more purchases:
- Redbird (very minimalistic) - Mysterium - Magick - Rituals - Seigen Ono feat. John Zorn - NekonoTopia NekonoMania
Can´t found Filmworks 19. When comes the album out?

I think the official release date for Filmworks 19 is Jan 22nd in the U.S. - it might be Jan 21 in other countries, I seem to remember some places release CDs on Mondays.
I just ordered mine from DMG...

For the price of one Japanese import, I could buy at leat two normal priced cds..... That said, the Masada studio albums are getting more and more obscure...

I've been picking up the Masada studio albums at DMG, not too expensive there ($17).
I saw some of them in the used bin of my local store recently, I already had them but maybe I should pick them up and send them to some forumers - I didn't know they were so hard to get.

I assume that Zorn doesn't allow Tzadik discs to be "remaindered". Short-termism and the tax year usually forces record companies to dump slow-moving stock, meaning that it gets into the supply chain, because some/many of the people who buy it cheap then turn out to hate it and sell it on.
At least in the US you get Zorn in the stores. Other than a few discs with a shocking markup in the larger superstores, we get no Tzadik stuff over here unless we buy mail order.
Incidentally, for an illustration of the markup, I've been checking Phish out recently and Live at Madison Square Garden costs £34.49 (approximately $70) from Amazon.co.uk, but $28 from Phish.com. Even with delivery, that probably means that we're being charged twice the price in the UK. Tzadik releases work out about £10 with delivery from DMG, and £13 (without delivery) from Amazon.co.uk but they'd be more like £17 in UK shops (if you could find them at all!)

Looks like a great year for Zorn output already too....
Secret Chiefs 3: Xaphan: Book of Angels Volume 9 [#7364]
Spectacular arrangements of Masada compositions by mad alchemist Trey Spruance, mastermind of Secret Chiefs 3 and one of the most brilliant musicians around. Drawing upon an astonishing array of musical styles from Exotica and Surf to Ethiopian Funk and Gypsy Swing, Trey ’s colorful orchestral arrangements perfectly compliment the lyricism and dynamic rhythmic complexity of Zorn ’s evocative Book of Angels. Featuring some of the best musicians from the Bay Area, LA and Seattle scenes, this is one of the most compelling installments in the entire Masada series.
PLEASE NOTE: This CD has been delayed until Spring 2008. John Zorn: The Dreamers [#7366]
Continuing in the tradition of his popular album The Gift, Zorn again combines a lifetime of musical passions—world music, movie soundtracks, jazz, minimalism, exotica, funk, surf rock and more—to create a vibrant and multifaceted album of instrumental fairy tales. Masterfully performed by the all-star players from Electric Masada, The Dreamers is a project of breathtaking variety and will attract listeners of all backgrounds and ages. Bathed in a lush package created by the acclaimed artist and exclusive Tzadik graphic designer Chippy, and accompanied by a sheet of collectable character stickers, The Dreamersis one of Zorn’s most beautiful and appealing projects. Seductive lyricism, hypnotic grooves, catchy hooks and romantic moods from this genre-bashing master of surprise. Bar Kokhba: Lucifer: Book of Angels Volume 10 [#7367]
Lucifer is the first studio recording in over ten years by the most popular and best selling Masada ensemble ever. Here they play better and tighter than ever, blending Sephardic and Ashkenazi sonorities with latin, surf, world music and more in an inimitable easy listening instrumental style. Lyrical and soulful, this is some of the most exciting and enjoyable chamber music you are ever likely to hear.Lucifer is yet another brilliant release from Zorn’s Book of Angels—one of the most consistent and compelling collections on Tzadik.
