Wow, what a night. The amazing duo Sax Ruins doing a handful gigs in Europe and I had the chance to check them out in Colmar / France on March 31. 2010 at Musée du jouet. (SaxRuins-Soundcheck painting from unknown artist) The location was really bizarre. It was in the middle of a museum for old toys. The opener was the french experimental solo musician L´ocelle mare ( www.myspace.com/ocellemare ). Nice stuff with banjo, metronome and other little unknown things. After a short break it was time for Ruins Alone. Tatsuya Yoshida is the best. Fast & furious, enough said! Ryoko Ono starts shortly after with a beautiful & melodic solo on her saxophone before the Sax Ruins performance starts. HardcoreZheulProgRockJazz descibes the following 50 minutes. Many times heavier as the album. A big rush, pure energy. I love it! The album Yawiquo is in my Top5 for 2009. Available on Ipecac or Magaibutsu. Get an ear on it. www5e.biglobe.ne.jp/~ruins/eng/index.htmlhomepage3.nifty.com/ryono/By the way, don´t miss the Zeni Geva Europe Tour (April 4. - May 4.) with Tatsuya Yoshida on drums. www.myspace.com/zenigeva

Cool, Hol! The venue does look bizarre!
I only have Hyderomastgroningem by Ruins, and the two albums they did with Derek Bailey. Yet to check out Sax Ruins, but mean to investigate it!
Thanks for sharing!

the Sax Ruins album is really good. if i counted it as a Ruins album it'd be among their best.
