heh - cool. cover looks pretty lo-fi. these european releases don't make things cheaper mind you. typical website album comment - no information. the title seems to refer to an insect called the antlion or doodlebug or. the picture on the cover appears to be one of the sand pit traps they make.

Seems like there will be quite some Merz-gems this year (I'm also looking forward to that new Cold Spring album where he plays drums for one track). Whatever, I just ordered this one. Edit: Nice studio.

if anything, the disc being recorded elsewhere makes me thing 'oh no'. in his bedroom he does it as he wants surely. the best releases are his own that he can work in his own space and time, as needs be. elsewhere who knows?

Personally, I think it's interesting that he recorded Arijigoku somewhere different. Who knows, maybe the change of location influenced him to try out some new things on this one? otherwise what other gems are you talking about halcyon? The upcoming album on Cold Spring, the third Partikel album and the collaboration with Sonic Youth, O'Rourke and Gustaffson. Those sound all pretty interesting to me, especially the last one. I didn't know that there will be new stuff by Important this year. Nice.

Well, Arijigoku just arrived, super quick from Vivo. Havent checked it out yet, as I have lots of Merzbow to get through!
Can tell ya that the packaging is similar to Higanbana, and it states MA plays "noise and drums" - I think the recording of the drums may explain the recording at another studio?

Yeah, my copy also arrived today, but I won't have time to listen to it before the weekend. Anyway, I'm very curious about how Akita uses drums on this one. Can't wait to hear it...

no i haven't heard kikuri yet that duo apparently first performed in brisbane, australia, in early 2004. they were both out for a tour called 'what is music' and played separately in sydney, melbourne, but then together in brisbane (as well as separately no doubt). i didn't see that. but i saw them in sydney!
