Doom Jazz grows each time I hear it.. Great music, beautifully recorded. I've listened to Whoopie Pie just once, didn't like it as much as Doom Jazz. Anyone knows release date for the next cds on Veal records?

Curated by Zorn: Tzadik Label Music Series III: Ikue Mori - Celebrating 30 years of Life, Love & Music in NYC
Friday, March 21, 7:30 PM Saturday, March 22, 7:30 PM
Curated by John Zorn. Presented in association with Tzadik
Drummer/composer/laptop wizard Ikue Mori moved to New York in 1977 and has since launched a multi-faceted career as a musician. After forming seminal no-wave band DNA with Arto Lindsay, Mori used drum machines to create her own highly sensitive signature style of improvisation and experimental music; she received the Distinctive Award for Prix Ars Electronica Digital Music in 1999. Mori's activities in the realm of music and media are wide-ranging and diverse, including performing in several bands and collaborating with international artists. She displays her versatile and virtuosic range over two evenings at Japan Society.
March 21: Mori takes the stage with Bhima Swarga comprised of Mori, Matt Welch and Gamelan Dharma Swara gamelan ensemble and accompanied by video animation also by Mori, followed by a world premiere collaboration between Mori and extreme vocal artist Makigami Koichi.
March 22: Mori's acclaimed solo over silent films by Maya Deren, as presented at London's Tate Modern, makes its U.S. debut. Next, Mori performs with two of her main collaborations: Phantom Orchard with harpist Zeena Parkins and guest percussionist Cyro Baptista; and the electro-acoustic trio Mephista with Sylvie Courvoisier (piano) and Susie Ibarra (percussion).
Tickets: $25/$20 Japan Society members. Purchase tickets online above, or call the Box Office at (212) 715-1258.I've just bought my ticket for the Friday show. Gamelan music + Ikue Mori must sound fantastic. This was superb. Really excellent show. Ended up buying the Bhima Swarga DVD, a Mephista album, and an Ikue Mori album while I was there. I saw John Zorn after the show as well, didn't have the nerve to go up and say hello though.

They've changed the listing on the Boston show tomorrow night... :-( This may be less interesting than expected...
John Zorn 07:00 PM New Music Now kicks off with music of MacArthur Award-winning composer John Zorn in a two-part concert featuring performances from his Masada series. $3 fee per non member ticket [ John Zorn may not be in attendance, late seating not assured]

They've changed it again... looks like no JZ.
"New Music Now, a new series, kicks off with MacArthur Award-winning composer John Zorn’s two-part concert featuring performances from his Masada series, starting with The Masada String Trio, performed by Mark Feldman (violin), Erik Friedlander (cello), and Greg Cohen (bass). The evening concludes with Masada Book of Angels, played by pianist Uri Caine."

After all that, they changed it AGAIN at the last minute... we showed up and it was Feldman/Courvoisier for the first set, and a Zorn/Wolleson/Cohen trio for the second set (fairly Masada Quartet-y). Good show... I love "Malphas" so it was a really nice surprise for me.
