I knew this would happen, Id see somebody elses list and think "Fuck! I forgot about that album!", namely in this case Execution Ground and T & E.......
Im still yet to get Workingmans Death, however. And, whilst I really like Invitation..., I do feel that it is a little overrated overall? Not saying I dislike it though...

Speaking of "Leng Tch'e", could somebody tell me who this was or what it means? I've done searches on the web to no avail. Thanks.

Leng T'che means "100 pieces", if my memory serves me, and it relates to a Chinese torture consisting on cutting the prisoner's body into 100 pieces and giving him opium to keep him alive as long as possible during the process. I'm glad times change

I think its something along the lines of "Death by a thousand cuts". I've got pictures of the actual torture being carried out, if anyone's interested.
I don't know about a top ten... but my favourites include:
Filmworks XIII Invitation to a Suicide Astronome Masada Live in Sevilla and all 5 Naked City albums.

The amount of albums included in each of those ensembles you listed, you could put together a top 50! I must say, the inclusion of NaniNani is a surprising one......

I must say, the inclusion of NaniNani is a surprising one...... All three albums (incl. the 50th Birthday live album Eye/Zorn) are very exciting. I like to hear weird and crazy albums and after that an album with nice melodies. This makes it more beautiful. Zorn/Eye live at Tonic 2003: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsvFu750VQ4NaniNani2 - Espimo: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzjkJm0GTUk

Not too much of a fan of their first release, and I have yet to hear Naninani II, so cant comment.....

yes, Hermetic is not particularly appreciated, in fact I don't know anyone who praises it.
As always with music, it would be hard to tell why I feel like listening to it over and over. On the one hand, maybe the idea of seeing Zorn alone... experimenting. On the other, as a Merzbow "fan", I have to say tracks 1 and 3 remind me of his work, the favorite and the loudest being The Nerve Key (track 3). The ending track too is beautiful, made of sounds from found objects, similar to 69 Paroxyms for Marcel Duchamp on Duras/Duchamp with minimalist violin in the background. On this opus, Zorn experiments with computer music, electronic music, and musique concrète. And he never ever used the noise this good. Here, you're not disturbed by anything else, just pure noise, you can't help but focus on it. This is what makes this work so beautiful. No respite, and yet, the music is right here.
