Harry Smith "Heaven and Earth Magic (1950-1960)" - 66min www.ubu.com/film/smith_heaven.html"This film is screened at John Zorn's Essential Cinema concerts, where a group of musicians perform behind the film. In the liner notes to Naked City's "Heretic" album it says "This record is dedicated to Harry Smith. Mystical Animator, Pioneer Ethnomusicologist, Hermetic Scholar, Creator of Heave + Earth Magic, one of the greatest films of all time." The video is downloadable with the red link below the clip window. Enjoy! Maybe also interesting for Zorn enthusiasts is the documentary "Master of Darkness: Aleister Crowley - The Wickedest Man in the World" by Neil Rawles (2001 / 50min): www.ubu.com/film/crowley_wicked.html"A look into the life of Aleister Crowley, a man who promoted a life of freedom which often ended in sexual debauchery and perversion as well as drug abuse and occult rituals."

Cool! And what about Jack Smith? If I'm not mistaken Grand Guignol is dedicated to him. In 2000 John Zorn hosted a morning seminar in Milan (Jazz Film Festival) about his favorite movies and he projected "Sharkbait of Atlantis" among some Henry Hills, Raul Ruiz, Ela Troyano works (whose soundtracks belong of course to the Filmworks series).
Flaming Creatures, Normal Love... I remember trying to see those videos but they were kind of (too) weird:-)
