Have to say, I've been fairly uninterested in Alhambra and its various follow-ups, they just haven't done it for me.
That said, "The Nobel Prize Winner" is just fantastic, reading the liner notes, they should have stuck with Zorn's original vision for just a solo piano score as Rob Burger just eats up this material.

I love it. Solo piano Burger would have been incredible.

Good to know. I dug Alhambra Love Songs and I was waiting for this new trio album. I agree with both of you that at this point a Burger solo work would be warmly welcomed.

I'd kill for a Burger Book of Angels.

I've recently bought first and last volumes from the Filmworks series. Ok, the former doesn't need to be introduced, it's kind of a masterpiece (just because Frisell it's in it:-) , but the Nobel Prize Winner appealed me a lot! I went for it after enjoying the Alhambra Trio (the dry trio only, not the enhanced "dull" ensembles follow-ups) and despite the trio involved it's made of different players I must say that the music is so good it makes me want to see the movie:-)
The obi is correct. You can find a touch of Glass, Debussy, Guaraldi and Satie in this soundtrack. If you like those guys, you won't be disappointed.
