Here's a bunch of stuff happening at the musee d'art et d'histoire du judaisme in Paris between 9 april and 18 july. I figure I'd make a new thread instead of dumping it all in the Zorn concerts one as there's a bunch of stuff that's Tzadik-related but not necessarily Zorn-related.
Concert 15 April 2010 Anthony Coleman solo
Film Projection 18 April 2010 Sabbath in Paradise (dir. by Claudia Heuermann)
Round Table Discussion 18 April 2010 Why Radical Jewish Culture? with Tamar Barzel, Anthony Coleman, David Krakauer, Marc Ribot (Ribot is playing across town the same night), and others.
Concert 18 April 2010 David Krakuer & Anthony Coleman duo
Concert 16 May 2010 Mark Feldman/Sylvie Courvoisier - playing Book of Angels tunes Aleph Trio - John Zorn, Trevor Dunn and Joey Baron - playing live scores to several short films by Wallace Berman
Art 29 May 2010 Hors Les Murs - Centre Pompidou Musical Eye: Sources and influences of John Zorn in modern art.
Concert 2 June 2010 Ben Goldberg Trio - BG, Greg Cohen and Kenny Wollesen - Speech Communication
Concert 6 July 2010 Frank London/Lorin Sklamber (+ Pablo Aslan and Brandon Seabrook)
Fetes de la Musique 21 June 2010 Radical Jewish Culture exposition will be open for free between 5:15pm and 10pm, then at 10pm there will be several film projections including various short films with music by Zorn and others, extracts from the Masada Live At Tonic dvd, and a 1993 documentary on Marc Ribot called "Descent into Baldness."
And, of course, the New York Radical Jewish Culture Music Scene exhibition will be open through all of that.

Wow, looks like a lot of good stuff coming your way. Looking forward to your reviews I didn't think he started going bald till a while after that, am I mis-remembering or is that just an unfortunately prophetic title? ;D

But I will be going to Sabbath in Paradise, the roundtable with Ribot, and the Ribot film etc. Most of those are cheap enough or free.

I went to this today, not bad, but it's kind of hard to make an exposition about music too exciting. Things of note: -Lots of video interviews with Ribot, Anthony Coleman, David Krakauer, Frank London, and others. -only one 7min Zorn interview excerpt from a q&a with Larry Ochs and Willie Winant that can be watched online in it's entirety. -a bunch of file cards and sheets for Zorn's Kristallnacht. -some Masada book 1 sheets as well as Zorn's handwritten list off all the book 1 titles with notes as to which ones had been recorded at the time and various colored check marks next to some which I don't know the significance of. -Zorn's red seater from the Munich Kristallnacht show was on display -right next to that was a box that contained (maybe not then, but possibly at some point) all of Zorn's Book of Angels sheets. I stuck my hand behind the glass to see if I could get it open to see if they were in there, it was taped shut, but there was some weight to it. -Wallace Berman's film Aleph with Zorn, Kenny and Dunn's score was being projected on a loop and beside the three or four seconds it took to restart it was hard to tell when it started or began. -a 35 min projection of the Munich Kristallnacht show could be viewed. -other music of interest on video loops were: -15 min of the Masada Quartet at the Knitting Factory dvd, -an excerpt of Zorn's The Sand Share, -Electric Masada playing Hadasha at Tonic (sept 03), -Masada guitars-duet of Ribot and Jon Madof playing Kedem -As I was leaving I passed by Anthony Coleman and his family talking out in the courtyard. Kristallnacht card Kristallnacht card Masada book 1 workbook Book 1 Makedah Book 1 song list Book of Angels box Masada artwork from Zorn's notebook Cobra, Naked City, and other records

Cool stuff, thanks for sharing! Kind of bizarre they are showing the closed box of the BOA book 2 - I mean, it's a box with a label on it... and they refuse to show you any of the interesting things inside? Weird. But it looks like a cool exhibition anyway... I might steal a crop from one of your pics as a new avatar if you don't mind ;D Attachments:

yeah, I was perplexed by the fairly pointless displaying of the book 2 box, hence why I tried to open it up to see if anything was inside. I must admit I would have probably stolen (or tried to steal) the contents had I goten it open and found all 300 songs inside, or at least I would have sat on the floor and taken pictures of each one until they kicked me out.
Knock yourself out with the picture.

Right. Steal it, take it home, photograph/scan at your leisure, and then show up with it at a concert and tell him you bought it from eBay/a flea market/in a dark alley and are such a good citizen that you wanted to return it to him at no cost.
And then he'll tell you he saw the security footage of the incident and have you arrested ;-)

yep, win/win situation, especially when you consider that I always wear a fake mustache when I go to museums.
I'm liking the new avatar.

Yeah, it's a cool pic. I always really liked the cover design of that series.
Make sure you wear a different fake mustache when you see him in concert. That could be awkward otherwise. (I'm just assuming you have one for every occasion...?)
