Agreed, I love Brain Ticket Death. The whole album has this really cool rock-like atmosphere. This is probably one of my favourites from the final ten Merzbox discs.

Yesterday I listened to Merzbow CD 49 - Motorond. The first track with Bara was great, had a very mystic and dark flair to me. I liked this one much more than some of the other CD's with Bara (Venereology, Rectal Anarchy...). The second track was nice but pretty standard Merzbow anno 1997.

spiral honey.. not his greatest. Nor his worst. The first two tracks I really enjoyed, then it seemed to slide downhill.... I did enjoy Great Deceiver though, with what is almost definitely a sample from Fripps guitar from King Crimsons The Great Deceiver, from Starless And Bible Black....

Annihiloscillator... Wow, it took me 1 1/2 years to get through the whole Merzbow. What a great journey. Maybe I'll post some more elaborate thoughts about the whole box a few days later in the Merzbox thread.

Maybe I'll post some more elaborate thoughts about the whole box a few days later in the Merzbox thread. Wow, that long? I got mine about a two months ago, and am currently on disc 48. So, I should have listening through for the first time soon. I have had a few detours though, for example, during my Merzbox journey, I picked up a few discs that fitted in chronologically, so instead of playing the next 'box disc I played whatever had just arrived and was next in the discography. When Im done, I plan to start the journey all over again! And, also, post more in the Merzbox thread.....

I checked out A Taste Of... today. Loved it. Very different, and not at all what I expected....
I was a bit worried by some reports Id read about it being "relaxing", but it really is. Innovative and unexpected, and all the time noisy!
Highlights ( for a first listen, at least ) Turban Shell Blues and Sponge Carp. Enjoyed it all though. Its a nice length too, not too long, and keeps itself busy to keep you interested....
2002 was a great year for MA in my opinion.

Heh, you're not alone. I also think Amlux is great. Looping Jane is a wonderful track. Also, I realized it's a good introduction to Merzbow for people who aren't into noise music.
