Merzbox 7 yesterday, Merzbox 8 as I type this. Godammit, 7+8 are highlights of the Merzbox early period, I think.

My favourites of the early period are probably Remblandt Assemblage (I love that guitar stuff) and the Collection series.
But the Merzbox in general is a beast. I still haven't listened to all CD's (I'm currently at CD 30), but it's a great experience so far.

Merzbox 11 this morning during coffee, and Merzbox 12 tonight in the bathtub, red wine, etc. 12 is a difficult one. (Nil Vagina Tape Loops.) It's hard to warm up to.

a digital copy of sphere. contemplating purchasing this one as a local shop has small collection of merzdiscs and this is one. the intro to sphere pt.2 is rather awesome. The buildup and primitive doom metal bassline have me hooked.

Today I began my Merzbox journey, with the first three discs. I really enjoyed them all, especially Remblant Assemblage - Reminded me of Zorns early stuff, improvisation, Zappa - so much in there and very interesting to see his development....Even in the first three discs, the difference between them all is staggering. Might go for for a couple more discs after some food, with a nice glass of whiskey....

Today - Material Action For 2 Microphones ( Merzbox disc 8 )......Fucking great, one of the highlight discs so far, IMO, along with Collection Era Volume 3 and Metal Acoustic Music....

I'm currently listening alot to "The Prosperity Of Vice, The Misfortune Of Virtue". A wonderfully atmospheric work... I would have loved to see the De Sade stageplay, which the music was composed for.

I am now officially past half way - Today I played Merzbox Disc 26 : Live in Khabarovsk, CCCP - I'm Proud by rank of the workers (88)
Not the best disc of the set so far, but still an interesting document in the evolution of Merzbow...

Personally, I thought it was quite a remarkable disc - mainly because of the second track. Also, the merznote for this one always makes me laugh.
What did you think of the Pornoise CD's?

Yeah, the second track is more of a highlight for sure.... Loved the Pornoise discs. As Id never heard anything from them at all, I didnt expect them to be as loop based as they are.... Only had one listen each so far, so is hard to comment accurately, but Pornoise Volume 3 and Pornoise Extra in particular I thought were great. Just before I bought the box I was contemplating getting the cassette set from RRR. I still may do,you never know....!
