)ust checked Le Zornographe ... is it just me or is the concert schedule looking a bit thin this year? Looks OK to me, but of course I live in NYC :-) You're not looking at the 2019 shows by accident, are you? I wasn't, no. I don't see a lot of touring in support of Beriah ... this would have been a good year to take things on the road.

Further to this, though, I note that Zornographe seems to be first with news of Jazz-Fest Sarajevo. That may be my best chance really to get my feet wet this year (although we're going to be at Symphony Space in April).

The line-up in Lisbon, Portugal, this summer is frankly very exciting. Zorn with Milton Graves & Thurston Moore on the first night, Ikue Mori playing on a Hermetic Organ concert. Three Bagatelles concerts, Masada quartet, Trigger, Simulacrum, Nova Quartet, Dither and the European Premiere of Jumalatterat. gulbenkian.pt/jazzemagosto/

A little off topic, but just thought I'd mention for anyone coming to town for the Book of Beriah show this week... the night before (Wednesday the 11th) is Erik Friedlander's album release concert for Artemisia at a cool little theater called Dixon Place. Only $15 and it's a great band with Ches Smith, Uri Caine and Mark Helias. web.ovationtix.com/trs/pe.c/10276056

The Art Institute show is less than a month after a scheduled performance by Simulacrum and Zorn at Reggies on 8/11... after a long while without performing here, we are suddenly being spoiled.

No Milford Graves tonight in Lisbon: apparently he had to cancel for health reasons. They seem to be giving us an extra night of Mary Halvorson to compensate.

New Kids on the Block is my favourite pop-band of 90s. They had so many hit songs! The ones I remember are 'Tonight', 'Baby, I Believe In You' and, of course their hit 'Step By Step'. These are real masterpieces, not garbage like today! And it is awesome they have a tour in 2019! And I'm going to attend New Kids on the Block concert this year. The concert setlist is here: New Kids on the Block tour dates. Click on it and maybe we can even visit one of the concerts together!
