JZ is doing a summer Sunday afternoon series at the Stone with the new book of 250 tunes he's written since March. (You'd be laughing right now if this were any other composer, I know.) There are some great bands and musicians lined up to play as usual. Full listing is compiled here: john-zorn.blogspot.com/2015/05/bagatelles.htmlAt some point between my job and all the must-see NYC concerts I will no longer have time to sleep or eat... ;-)

Let's hope that part of this live activity produces new recordings that we could all benefit from... though as we're speaking of Zorn it sounds quite porbable That said, one would argue if he had an argument with Baron, Cohen or Baptista as they are not part of this series... kidding, it's good to see that personnel is changing and new faces are emerging. I am really looking forward to see some Masada Book 3 releases, even if we might have to wait until Book II vol. 53 Enjoy the gigs!

You are just going to have to pack up and move to New York, like I did!

JZ is doing a summer Sunday afternoon series at the Stone with the new book of 250 tunes he's written since March. Wow, that lineup has me drooling. it will be interesting to compare what Asmodeus does by comparison with Abraxas & Simulacrum since those three bands seem to provide vehicles for the same sort of music. I wonder if Gyan Riley and Mark Hollenberg will both be doing solo electric guitar sets ... because that sounds to me on the dry side for a full concert.

Note that the Abraxas lineup listed has no guitars, so it could be quite a different sound than we've heard previously, and probably not much like Simulacrum and Asmodeus. (Unless they just left the guitarists out of the listing by accident or something...)

(Unless they just left the guitarists out of the listing by accident or something...) Huh, good point. I've always been vague about how many members an ensemble can change before Zorn changes the name of the ensemble, but taking the guitarists out of Abraxas seems to me to change it into something else. Mind you, that trio would be interesting to hear in its own right, certainly.

Sofia Rei is supposed to deliver the first installment of Book 3 by en of this year. Now I'm wondering how will Chippy handle it, or the Bagatelles.. The new Dreamers looks lavishly amazing!
