They certainly were. I bought a copy of the Dreamers cd this weekend. All of the shows were amazing, but seeing Electric Masada on Sunday was just incredible. Kenny Wolleson and Joey Baron on drums at the same time gives it such an intense energy. Friday night I believe they played every Dreamers song, and pretty much the same the following night, give or take. On Sunday I believe the Electric Masada set was: Lilin Hath Arob Karaim Idal-Abal Yatzar Tekufah and improv for the encore

hi! what a board i came to find! the info here is GRRReat!
i wanted to ask if anyone can give me an idea of what the concert of the 21June might be like... just Zorn and Patton?
i am trying to go to one (or hopefully - some!) of the concerts announced for June... a favorite might be six litanies for heliogabalus, but I would really appreciate some guidance here thank you so much!

cretin, what about essential cinema ? I mean, personally I love most of the films presented in, but one can wonder how worth is it to add music to some of them, whether it be because some are silent, but, above all, because some are already synched to music (Eaux d'Artifice by Anger, Rose Hobart by Cornell...)
It seems strange to me that Electric Masada music would fit on these films, and I know for sure that Zorn scored music especially for Deren, Smith and Anger films in the past, so was it live improvisation, unknown music or merely an Electric Masada gig accompanied by some background imagery ?
By the way, was Harry Smith's The Tin Woodman's Dream projected ? I can't wait to discover this one which is planned to be presented in Paris next june.

I can't remember the names of all the films but there was one that involved some kind of Tin Man, so I think the answer is yes to that one...
Being seated all of 6 feet from the large movie screen I would say that it was a bit more than "background imagery" ... the band was behind the screen and you couldn't see them during the Essential Cinema set. I think the music was especially written for those films and not just Electric Masada stuff or improv.

I know for a fact The Tin Woodman's Dream, rose hobart, by spear or night, and Ritual in Transfigured Time were shown, the others I had not seen before so I cannot confirm. like sarahv pointed out, it was not improv. the screen was in front of the band for the st ann's show, but from what I heard at the philly show beforehand, the Screen was behind the band, and was somewhat project on them was well, partially blinding joey baron because of his bald head

"and improv for the encore"
How long do you think the encore was? And how was the improv wild and crazy or more layed back.

the band was in front of the screen in philly. two of them were done by Ikue Mori (i think) and it looked like kenny was taking a nap during one of them, though he was probably just lying on his back and looking up at the screen.

Looks like some new shows posted on Marc Ribot's tour page... plus some of the ones he has listed are a bit different than what you've got listed here, not sure about accuracy...
June 28, 2008 Sicily, Italy w/John Zorn June 29, 2008 Sicily, Italy w/John Zorn
September 22, 2008 Milan, Italy w/John Zorn Shir Hashirim
Also listed, though not Zorn-related... I know some here are interested:
"Ceramic Dog Album Coming Soon We're happy to announce that Ceramic Dog's debut LP "Party Intellectuals" is complete and be relased in May. Pi Recordings will distribute the record in the US and Canada and Enja will handle Europe and Japan. Thank you to everyone who worked hard on this album."
