Here's another show that I saw listed in the program at last nights concert.
John Zorn: Shir Ha-Shirim/The Song Of Songs at Abrons Arts Center Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23 at 8:00PM
Scored for five female voices and two narrators, Shir Ha-Shirim is John Zorn’s lush and sensitive setting of the Song of Songs, the world’s first erotic verse. Featuring the expressive voices of two of the world’s greatest storytellers, Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed, this is a romantic and lyrical project evoking feelings of love, eroticism, and spirituality. With Martha Cluver, Lisa Bielawa, Kathryn Mulvihill, Abby Fischer, and Kirsten Sollek.

A write up for the concert in Ireland at Drogheda on May 2 2008 appears at www.louthcms.org/index.php/john-zorn-confirmed-for-may-2008-2/Jennifer Choi's website ( www.jenniferchoi.com/Concerts.html) lists the Boston April 17, 2008 date as a performance of Necromicon with Fred Sherry, cello and Jesse Mills, violin but the ICA site says its a Masada evening And for those around Florida in February there is a performance of Cat O'Nine Tails by the Afiara Quartet (no JZ in attendance) on the 25th www.chambersociety.org/feb.htmlAnd the real suprise... A John Zorn sound installation at the Conteporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco... John Zorn Presents the Aleph-Bet Project - June 8, 2008 through January 4, 2009 Contemporary Jewish Museum, Studio Daniel Libeskind, and WRNS Studio. Special Events Gallery. John Zorn, highly-acclaimed musician and MacArthur Fellow recipient, will lead fellow musicians, composers and artists in a series of commissioned sound pieces that acoustically explore the Hebrew alphabet. Linking the alphabetic symbols found throughout Daniel Libeskind's architecture with the CJM's mission of rethinking tradition through its programming, the musicians will be inspired by the Kabbalistic principle that the ancient Hebrew alphabet is a spiritual tool full of hidden meaning and harmony. John Zorn was invited by the CJM to curate this series of sound pieces for the special events gallery, a unique space featuring soaring 60-foot-ceiling and 36 diamond-shaped skylights. Throughout the Aleph-Bet Project, the composers will each be invited to perform their music live at the Museum. from www.jmsf.org/exhibitions/DISE (Down In Southern Extremes)

When did he last play the UK? I've only just started looking for concerts, and have taken the plunge for Paris but would be delighted if he's also coming to London.

I believe he played the Barbican last year. It was a Derek Bailey tribute and another concert (Moonchild?)

I believe he played the Barbican last year. It was a Derek Bailey tribute and another concert (Moonchild?) I missed the Bailey tribute, but I went to the Moonchild show. It was the premiere performance, and they nailed it EXACTLY like the record. Was great to watch. Then followed another premiere piece, of which I cant remember the title, because it was ridiculously long ( I posted it somewhere on this forum previously, though ), which involved a female choir, a contra basson and strings. Great....

August 31: Bar Kokhba in Willisau Zorn's Bar Kokhba Group at the famed Willisau Festival in Switzerland... Really good news, very coooooooool! Only 80km away from my home. It is a superb Jazzfestival in a small swiss Village. I was last year on the gigs from Dave Douglas Brass Ecstasy, Wollesens Himalaya Street Band and Ribots Ceramic Dog.

I think this may be a new bit of info for the Feb 22/23 at the Abrons Arts Center. In addition to the thing with Anderson/Reed and the five female voices, we have:
"The evening opens with Zorn's Sefer Shir Shel Shir Ha-Shirim (Songbook for the Song of Songs) with Marc Ribot (guitar), Carol Emanuel (harp), and Trevor Dunn (bass)."
From an advertising postcard I got in the mail today...
