This DVD was in my mailbox today and I watched it immediately. The visuals/animations are all done by Ikue and are based on old wallpaintings in the Kertha Gosa temple in Bali. The entire visuals are very color-gladly and psychedelic, hard to watching all 60 minutes at once. I must try it the next time on a big screen and with magic mushrooms in my brain. ;D The story is about the epic journey threw the hell to heaven by Bhima who wants to save his parents. Parted in 18 chapters. DVD-linernotes excamples: 4. the second hell - A man who had dishonored his parents is getting his head sawn in half. (Ouch!) 7. the fifth hell - A lazy woman, a troublemaker and two criminals are beeing boiled. 9. the seventh hell - Bhuta Maya shakes the branches of the Judgement Tree and sharp blades fall on those who have committed suicide. The soundtrack is really cool! 20 minutes are electronics only by Ikue Mori. Like Hemophiliac without sax and voice. Nice soundlandscapes. The second track is 40 minutes long and by Matthew Welch (sax&percussion) with the Garmelan Dharma Swara Ensemble ( www.dharmaswara.org ) feat. Ikue Mori. Really wonderful fusion music between jazz, traditional and electronic. The feeling from this DVD is more like a VideoInstallation for your own home. (btw, it is concipated for The Proposition art gallery in NYC) www.ikuemori.com
