Had a bottle of wine so I might be rambling....
Started to think about the concept of noise music whilst listening to the Prosperity of Vice CD. It's a very varied release going from very rhythmic later Merzbow to very "un_rhythmic" early Merzbow. Both of which I like very much..And this got me thinking. Surely the very concept of enjoying a "noise" CD has instantly turned it from challenging and experimental to just another form of "normal" music. Hasnt't the fact that I enjoyed listening to this CD removed the noise tag i.e if I enjoyed it I have lost or overcome the the reason behind the release in the fiirst place and therefore is it viable as a form of art or performance?
I'm suspecting that tomorrow evening I'll completly delete the above as a pile of rambing pissed shite. In the mean time over to you.
Also today I tried to get throught The Fall - Peel boxset. If Merzbow didn't exist MES would help get me throught the day.
Thrench over and out...............................................

I do see what you are saying, and I do agree to an extent. But what really is "challenging" music" anyway? What is challenging to you, may not be to me, or somebody else.
All I know is that I get something from Merzbow that I don't get from any other artist. I find it hard putting into words / thoughts ( like some are so good at on here / the internet ), so much so that I feel I do not need to come up with a formula as to why I enjoy it.
Now that sounds pretentious doesn't it?
